ABOUT

A native of Sligo, Larry Stapleton worked in the areas of environmental research, monitoring and assessment. He was senior editor of the Environmental Protection Agency’s first two reports on the State of the Environment and later served as a Director of the Agency.

The following are among the periodicals in which his poems have appeared: Poetry Ireland Review, Science Meets Poetry 3, The Stinging Fly, About Place Journal, The Scaldy Detail, THE SHOp, Cyphers, The Stony Thursday Book, Crannóg, The Honest UlstermanThe North, The Interpreter’s House, Irish Pages and The Curlew.  In December 2018 one of his poems was Poem of the Week in the Irish Times.

He was included by Poetry Ireland in their Introductions series in 2014.  He has been commended in the Fool for Poetry chapbook competition and highly commended in the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Competition.

Larry’s first book of poetry THE BOUNDLESS AND MIRACULOUS – Found Poems from the Letters of Vincent van Gogh was published by The Liffey Press in 2019.

He lived for a number of years in Limerick and Dublin, and spent the later years of his life in Wexford.
